How to Apply for Ration Card/Food Security Card in Telangana ?

The Target Public Distribution System (TPDS)
In 1997, the Government of India launched the Target Public Distribution System (TPDS) with the primary objective to aim the poor people. The TPDS works towards providing goods of necessities to poor people at government approved subsidized prices. The essential commodities that are distributed under the TPDS are procured from the farmers, subsequently allocated to the State governments and then sent to the ration shops. The cardholders can have access to these shops and purchase the commodities at nominal rates.
Categorizations of the Beneficiaries
The beneficiaries for white card/ food security card in Telangana are divided under three categories. The categories are listed below.
Above Poverty Line or APL households- Any household that is above the poverty line is considered for the APL ration card. No economic limit is mentioned here.
Below Poverty Line or BPL households- The families that fall under the poverty line will be provided the Food security ration card in Telangana.

Food Security Card Telangana Eligibility
Documents Required for Telangana Ration Card
The documents that are required to obtain the white ration card or food security card are as follow-
- Proof of Income- a valid income proof is required for obtaining a white ration card/food security card. The income of the applicant, as well as his family, would be considered.
- Address proof- a valid identification of the residential address of the applicant as well his family.
- Age proof- the document which represents the age of the applicant is also required. For this purpose Aadhar card, Birth certificate, Mark sheet of 10th class, or any other valid document can be provided.
- ID proof- the identity of the applicant as well as his family should be clearly stated with the help of necessary documents.
- Passport size photos- A Group photograph of the applicant with his family members should be provided.
Application Fees for Food Security Card/Ration Card
A nominal rate of Rs. 10 is charged for obtaining the application form of the white ration card/food security card. Rs. 35 is charged for the issuance of the white ration card by the concerned authority.
The applicant generally obtains the white ration card within 30 days.
Food Security Card Telangana Apply Online
The applicant can also obtain a ration card or a food security card through an online process. Some simple procedures need to be followed. Steps are given below.
Step 1: The first and foremost step is to obtain an application form for the white ration card. The application form is provided on the website of meeseva. If you want to get the form offline you can go and obtain it from the nearest meeseva center in your district.

Step 2: Open the website provided above and download the application form from the ‘application form’ section.

Step 5: Fill the application form. Provide all the details correctly and honestly. Providing false information either of yourself or your family members may lead you to face criminal prosecutions.

Step 7: Go to the meeseva center and submit the application form in the concerned department. Don’t forget to take an acknowledgment slip.
