Have You bought the Right AC Air Conditioner?

One question often present in the back of consumers’ minds is what type of air conditioner they should purchase.  AC air conditioners are mainly of two types: window air conditioners and split air conditioners. Although, with technological advancements, purchasing an inverter air conditioner is also available.

Now, each type of air conditioner has its pros and cons. Therefore, users should determine their actual requirements before buying a model.

You may have purchased an online air conditioner for your home after extensive research. We all know that when it comes to buying an AC, one of the most crucial factors influencing the decision to purchase is the compressor’s technology.

Compressor Technology

In a normal AC, the compressor runs for as long as the user gets his desired temperature; once it reaches that stage, the compressor completely stops until the room temperature again rises by a few degrees. So, when the temperature rises, the compressor starts working.

However, in an inverter air conditioner, the compressor does not start running at its maximum capacity when we switch on the AC. The compressor’s speed is governed by the existing temperature of the room and the desired temperature set by the user. Because the compressor runs at different while the AC is turned on, it does not use a lot of power at once. Therefore, inverter technology helps to cut electricity bills.

Although, an inverter AC tends to cost higher than a regular one. Hence, it is a better choice for a home if it is used for more than 4 hours per day or if the area of the room where it needs to be installed is fairly large.

Moreover, the capacity one should ideally purchase depends on the room’s dimensions. The size of the room is very important, and one needs to keep that in consideration while making the purchase.

The capacity of the AC Air Conditioner

The capacity of an ac air conditioner, in other words, is the amount of heat it removes per hour during use.

2-ton AC is sufficient to cool a room having an area between 120 to 160 square feet.

Whereas 1.5-ton AC is suitable when you need to cool a room having an area between 160 to 200 square feet.

Similarly, a 2-ton AC is appropriate for a room with an area between 200 and 260 square feet.

If the area is larger than 260 square feet, one would need to install more than one AC of suitable capacity to adequately cool the place.

Hence, if the AC is set in an environment where direct sunlight falls, its cooling efficiency will reduce. Choosing an AC with a slightly higher capacity is best in such conditions. For example, if a room needed a 1.5-ton AC, a slightly higher 2-ton AC would provide the best service if the room faces direct sunlight.

Depending upon the prevailing conditions, one should decide on the configuration – window, split, or an inverter air conditioner. One also needs to consider other factors, such as awareness about the ways some brands resort to cutting production costs. They often use inferior components in their ACs while manufacturing.
