The business correspondents appointed by the SBI are called SBI BC. Usually, the business correspondents are appointed in villages to help the communities to open a bank account and help them familiar with the banking procedures. SBI BCs are paid a commission for every new account and all other banking transactions made through them. Eligibility to become a Business Correspondent of SBI
The entities given below are eligible to become the business correspondent of SBI Bank.
- NGOs/MFls registered under Societies/Trust Acts
- Societies registered under Mutually Aided Cooperative Societies Acts or the Cooperative Societies Acts of the concerned State.
- Stand-alone entities
- Post offices
- Retired Bank Employees OF SBI and other Banks
- Ex-servicemen
- Retired government employees.
- Kiran a/Medical Shops & Ration Shop owners
- PCO operators
- Agents of Government small saving schemes
- Self Help Groups connected to banks and NFCs
- Individuals such as auto dealers, FMCG stockiest and other people chosen by the bank subject to certain conditions
- Retired postmasters.
SBI BC Point Registration Requirements
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of the area where he or she wants to be appointed
- The applicant should have a good reputation and confidence of the people in his area
- Should have the capacity to invest
- The applicant should have passed minimum 10th
- Should not have any criminal background
- Should open an account with SBI.
- Should be able to provide a suitable amount of deposit as security /Bank guarantee.

SBI BC -Scope of Activities
Listed below is the scope of activities for the business correspondents of SBI
- Creating awareness about SBI products
- Educate people on managing the money
- Identification of potential customers in the area
- Debt counseling
- Collection and initial scrutiny of SBI forms for deposits and primary verification
- Savings and other products and education and advice on managing money and debt counselling.
- Filling of new account opening forms and submission of completed forms at the branch.
- Collection of deposits and withdraws up to INR 2000/per transaction
- Delivery and receipt of small deposits
- Providing mini account statements and related information up to 3 months
- Any other services approved by the Banks.
